A journalist, an explorer, nature lover and founder of Cotigao: The Earthen Nest , Basuri Desai personifies characteristics of an exponential leader.
Born and brought up in the costal state of Goa in a family, where men were content with their farming jobs, Basuri always had the passion to explore new avenues. Having spent more than a decade as a crime reporter with a leading daily, he decided to turn entrepreneur and founded Cotigao: The Earthen Nest in the heart of Cotigao wildlife Sanctuary. He always longed to go back to his native village Cotigao and express his heartfelt gratitude to the land, which played a major role in becoming what he is today. So, it wasn’t a tough call for him to bid adieu to his lucrative job and return back to his roots.
In a short span of time, the young resort has become a force to reckon with in the highly competitive field of hospitality in the state. And why it would not be? He carved out this concept resort, which gives an exposure to nature during their staycation. Basuri thanks his entire family including his mother, sister-in-law and both the brothers, who encouraged him and supported him throughout for fulfilling his dreams.
Under his management, the resort has taken all the necessary steps to ensure safety of the guest so that when they enjoy the night camp fire, they can mesmerized by the silence from the jungle. The resort is nestled in the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary. Desai has designed special jungle safari for the guests while those who are foodies can also learn and enjoy tribal kitchen. There is something for everyone, irrespective of taste and the age. The resort is one of its kind in Goa for being the first one to have exclusive mud cottages.
And, this is not all. Basuri is in the process of having two tree houses providing unique adventurous experience for the visitors.
Having already broken many gas ceilings, Basuri has been carving out a niche in the hospitality industry.
